Cooking Bobby Flay Style

Crock pot porridge

1/2 cup cracked wheat
1 1/2 cup steel cut oats
1/2 cup rye flakes
1/2 cup brown rice
1/4 cup wheat germ
6 1/2 cup water (rice milk, soy milk, almond milk, goats milk)
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup chopped dates
1Tb vanilla
Pinch nutmeg
Place all ingredients in a 3 quart crock pot. Stir well Nd cover.
Set on lowest cooking temperature and cook overnight.
Try unsweetened applesauce as a sweetener.

Smoothie Recipe

I haven’t tried this recipe yet, but I have a friend who swears by it and says that she feels more sluggish and fatigued if she doesn’t have her morning smoothie.

1-2 bananas
1-2 cups orange juice, calcium and vitamin D fortified
1tsp to 1 Tablespoon of “daily greens”
1 scoop genisoy vanilla protein shake mix
Blend until it looks like green pond scum (yummy, right? her description, not mine)

Add you favorite frozen fruits:
such as a handful of peaches or mangos
or strawberries
or raspberries
or blueberries

Also good to try: grapes, cranberries, blackberries and cherries.
